Subject lines are incredibly important. While they are obviously designed to give recipients an idea what the email is about, they can also be used to:
- Inform
- Intrigue
- Alert
- Entice
- And most importantly of all, engage.
I’m always disappointed therefore to see how little time can be put into a subject line – particularly when it is clear how much time and trouble has gone into the main copy.
If you have the opportunity, try some A/B testing with various subject lines to see what an enormous difference they can make. The results may surprise you.
