This is the second in a series of posts I will be writing on the Twitter phenomenon. In my first post on Twitter I looked at what Twitter is and how it can be leveraged from a communications / marketing perspective. In this post I want to look at tangible real World examples of how brands are using Twitter from a comunications perspective. Some of the examples I have picked out include:
Skittles
Skittles in a stroke of genius replaced their entire home page with a live Twitter feed of those Tweets mentioning ‘Skittles’. This bold move attracted a huge amount of press attention and is regarded as a marketing coup for the amount of interest and brand recognition it achieved.
Jetblue
Offers Twitter based customer service. They have attracted a huge number of followers, in excess of 110,000 at the time of writing.
Starbucks
Posts new offers and threaded discussions of these offers.
HRBlock
Run Q&A sessions with customers.
Dell
Offer a number of Twitter feeds around savings and deals for different verticals.
Bath Bus Station
Bath Bus Station offer service updates via Twitter.
Luxor Hotel Las Vegas
Sin city, digitally!
Get Closure
South African online service for resolving consumer complaints.
All of the examples above have either used Twitter in innovative ways or are capturing its true essence, adding value to their followers.
