Twitter more popular with older people than other social networking sites

In an article likely to make financial marketers sit up and take notice, Comscore announced that the number of people using Twitter in February 2009 skyrocketed over 700% on the previous month. ComScore found that people aged between 45 and 54 are 36% more likely than other age group to use Twitter, making them the highest-rated age group, followed by those aged 25 to 34, who are 30% more likely to Tweet out updates about their life and work.

If this pattern of usage continues, Twitter may become a key media battleground in future for brands wanting to target older more affluent individuals.
