How companies can respond to comment from bloggers

I recently highlighted an article where Ryanair, a European ultra-discount airline failed to appropriately respond to some comments from a blogger, creating lots of negative PR for themselves in the process – Ryanair Slams ‘Lunatic,’ ‘Idiot’ Blogger. I subsequently came across the following document which I can simply describe as “outstanding” outlining the approach to bloggers by the US Airforce. I think this document presents companies with an ideal starting point for developing their own equivalent “response”guidance notes for staff. Certainly the Airforce have followed the old dictum that it is better to be prepared before the eventuality arises rather than trying to hotfoot it if a particular scenario crops up….
